S. Douglass Consulting provides training and consultation services for the early care and education community. Our goal is to improve the health and safety of children in child care. Each consultant is a registered nurse with experience in public health and children’s safety.
Sharon D. Ware, the principle consultant, has over 40 years of nursing experience and have taught adults for over 20 years. She holds a bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN), a Master’s in Education (MA), a Master’s in Nursing (MSN) and a doctorate in Adult Education (Ed.D). Dr. Ware is an independent Child Care Health Consultant (CCHC) and was trained through the National Training Institute (NTI) for Child Care in 1999. She also completed training in the First Start Program for the Care of Infants, Toddlers, and Young Children with Disabilities and Chronic Condition. Dr. Ware worked as a North Carolina State CCHC, Oklahoma's first CCHC and a Training Coordinator and CCHC at the California Childcare Health Program.
CCHCs work to improve the quality of early care and education programs by promoting healthy and safe environments for children in child care. We collaborate with child care directors, child care facility owners, early educators, other health professionals, and families to ensure optimal health for young children and to reduce the children’s risk of illness and harm. CCHCs provide health and safety related technical assistance (TA) and employ a variety of strategies to achieve these goals.
